About Our Chapter

The Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association is an organization consisting of men and women promoting western lifestyle and rodeo!  Many members of our organization compete in International Gay Rodeo Association events all over the US and Canada. 

We are a California 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. Donations to the “Greater Palm Springs Chapter” are deductible to the extent provided by law. Please contact a tax professional to determine the extent of deductibility of any donations.

Nominations for Chapter Officers (VP Rodeo Operations and Secretary – both are 2-year terms) will open 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting & Elections (April 2023). Election will be held at the June 15, 2023 Annual Membership Meeting.  

Chapter History

On January 30, 2000, a meeting was held in Rancho Mirage. The purpose was to establish a new chapter of the G.S.G.R.A. in the Palm Springs desert. The meeting was called to order by interim President Barry Hamm and lasted over 2­ hours. The founding charter members included Judy Galloway, Rosie Sierra, J.G. Avila, Lorry King, John Matthews, Frank Delgado, Doug Beck and Barry Hamm. At the meeting, updates were given on paid memberships and transfers into the newly established chapter.

Judy Galloway named the chapter “Greater Palm Springs Rodeo Chapter”. J.G. Avila began work on a new logo (a different logo is in use today) and Barry Hamm began research into the geographical boundaries of this new chapter. Within months, memberships increased, meetings were held and the future planned.

The Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association welcomes you to come and share in our community and heritage. The Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the ‘Golden State Gay Rodeo Association’ – a member of the ‘International Gay Rodeo Association’ is registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation.
